           History

Bonnie R. Seizer, C.P.E., has owned and operated a successful electrolysis private practice for the past twenty-five years. Having completed an electrolysis training apprenticeship in 1979, she opened a new office, Ashford Electrolysis Clinic on the westside of Houston, Texas, in the same year. Her professional memberships include the Texas Association of Professional Electrologists and the American Electrology Association.

From 1985 to 1988, she was the proprietor and instructor of a state approved electrolysis school, Houston Electrolysis Institute, which was certified by the Texas Education Agency.

She was among the first group of electrologists to pass the American Electrology Association sponsored International Board of Electrologists Certification Exam, which was administered initially on November 11, 1985, in Atlanta, Georgia. This exam requires that electrologists voluntarily place their knowledge and skill against national standards for board review. The successful passing of this exam allows the use of the credential, C.P.E. (Certified Professional Electrologist).

She served on the board of the Association of Texas Electrologists as Third Vice President and Newsletter Editor (1985-1987), Historian (1991-1993), and First Vice President and Education Committee Chairman (1995-1997).

From 1989-1995, she served as a member of the American Electrology Association Continuing Education Review Committee.  She also participated in the development of the second and third generation of CPE testing; respectively, as a review committee member in 1990 in Newark, New Jersey and as a item writer in 1995 in Reno, Nevada.

In 1998, with the support and assistance of the oldest and largest electrolysis association, the American Electrology Association (founded in 1958), she was instrumental in the formation of a new state electrolysis association, the Texas Association of Professional Electrologists.  During 1999 to 2003, she served as the first President of this American Electrology Association state-affiliate association.

In October, 2002, she completed a prescribed course of study for post-secondary electrology instructor training sponsored by the American Electrology Association/International Board of Electrologist Certification.

Continuously maintaining her CPE credential since 1985 (when national board certification was instituted for the electrology profession), she has attended throughout the years numerous state and national conventions and seminars that are designed for the continuing education of the professional electrologist.
